Well, 2012 is here, and what a start! The first week of the year has been completely upside down - we had a ceiling replaced in the house, which meant that everything that is normally in our lounge was in the kitchen, in my office and in the bedrooms!! So, chaos enused. Then I got a really bad cold, which slowed me up yet again. So, now all of that is out of the way, I'm ready to start my year with energy & excitment - it's the Chinese year of the Dragon (on the 23rd Jan), and I'm a Dragon.... no comments please!
On Dec 23rd I photographed a very wintry wedding (the weather was terrible), and you'll see some images from that very soon, once the couple have viewed have seen them. More weddings and baby shoots to follow very soon.
At the end of last year I watched a really interesting documentary about the artist, Grayson Perry. It was truly fascinating. He won the Turner prize in 2003, and for those of you who don't know, works in ceramics, amongst other media. His best friend is his Teddy bear, Alan Measles, who is a continuing inspiration to his work. (You can read a bit about him and see some of his work at: http://www.victoria-miro.com/artists/_12/
At the moment, until the end of February, he has an exhibition on at the British Museum, called 'The Tomb of the unknown Craftsman'.
My own teddy is 60 years old, and the only real link to my childhood (that I can think of) that I have kept for that long. For me, teddy bears are really special and take us back to when we were young very easily. So, I decided I'd do a 'portrait' bear shoot!! My bear Ding-a-ling, has featured on the Wootton Bassett Rocks FB page sporting one of the wrist bands. He is called Ding-a-ling because he has a bell inside him (his body is hard). I think it's quite interesting, because of course he has one expression, but by the way you change the angle of his head and body, I think he looks quite different. Anyway, here's a bit of 'bear' fun to start 2012.
Do you still have your teddy bear?......
